Fatma Nur Gürbüz, Melek İlayda Köse, Selin Çelik and Zeynep Bakırcı from TEDU Elementary Education Mathematics Education Program attended the festival held at the Keçiören Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) for March 14 Mathematics Day. In this festival, our students met with primary and secondary school students studying at BİLSEM and took part in the planning and implementation of various activities. In the festival, especially the number of Pi and its importance were emphasized. Students measured the circumference and diameter of circles of different sizes and calculated the number of pi, found the birth dates in the digits of the pi number, created the frequency table of the digits of the pi number after the comma, and participated in many activities such as solving the resfebe puzzle, preparing bookmarks and creating a pi chain.
Our students spent time with the teachers working in BİLSEM and observed the school culture. In addition, our 4th grade students had the opportunity to do activities with students in lesson and observe the students in classroom.
We would like to thank our teacher, Dr. Zerrin Toker, for the announcement of this festival, our teacher Seda Sünker who organized the festival with the help of our students at BİLSEM, Keçiören BİLSEM for their hospitality and our students for their efforts.
