Head of Department Dr. Zerrin Toker and Experienced Research Asistant Gizem Güzeller presented their speech called “Big Ideas for Teaching: What are the benefits of learning mathematics? at the 7th Summit of Mathematics Teachers Sharing which is supported by BILTEMM. In the presentation, where the importance of big ideas in mathematics was evaluated according to the components of students, teachers and curriculum, activities were carried out for participant teachers to think of big ideas at their own grade levels.
At the summit, which was held with the participation of 450 mathematics teachers and prospective teachers from 26 provinces, many presentations were made regarding the theme “On the education of mathematics while changing paradigms” and the change in the field of mathematics was discussed.
